Is Your Steam Trap Really Working Properly?
Just because a steam trap is operating doesn't mean it's working properly.

Steam trap performance can deteriorate over time due to wear and the buildup of foreign matter.

Problems are difficult to detect through visual inspection alone, allowing steam losses to go unnoticed.

As a result, inspection workloads increase, and energy losses may continue over extended periods.

Why Choose Steam Saver

Outstanding Durability

Industrial steam piping.

Its simple cylindrical-bore design, with no moving parts in the condensate discharge mechanism, minimizes steam leakage caused by wear and deterioration, helping maintain energy-saving performance for at least 10 years.

No Routine Disassembly

Specialist inspecting steam equipment.

The internal design helps prevent debris buildup. Any blockage can be cleared by blow-through cleaning or backflushing, without routine disassembly or cleaning.

Lower Operating Costs

Engineering plans.

Minimizes live steam leakage during condensate discharge, reducing fuel consumption. Lower steam losses mean lower operating costs.

Environmental Performance

Industrial plant.

Reduces CO₂ emissions by cutting steam consumption, helping decarbonize industry.

Steam Saver: A Cylindrical-Bore Steam Trap

Steam Saver is a long-life steam trap designed for steam mains and steam tracing lines. A single model is suitable for a wide range of low-pressure steam main applications.

For steam-using equipment such as heat exchangers, boilers, and drying ovens, we also offer a range of O-Trap models selected to suit the application and operating conditions.

How Steam Saver’s Cylindrical Bore Reduces Steam Losses

Less Steam Loss. More Energy Savings.

Steam Saver features a 0.8 mm cylindrical bore through a stainless steel ball. Continuously discharged condensate helps seal the outlet, minimizing live steam leakage and maintaining energy-saving performance over the long term.

This design helps reduce energy losses in steam mains and steam tracing lines, where leakage from aging steam traps may otherwise go unnoticed.

Normal condensate discharge and blow-through cleaning by turning the handle 90 degrees.
Low-Maintenance Design

The inside of the trap is continuously flushed by pressurized fluid, making it difficult for rust and scale to accumulate. If foreign matter causes a blockage, it can be cleared through blow-through cleaning or backflushing.

With no need for routine disassembly or cleaning of the trap body, Steam Saver significantly reduces maintenance work.

Backflushing a blockage by turning the handle 180 degrees.

Steam Leakage Rate Comparison: Steam Saver vs. Conventional Traps

Designed to minimize steam leakage caused by aging and wear, Steam Saver maintains consistent energy-saving performance over the long term.

Conventional trap: leakage increases from 4 percent initially to 25 percent after five years.
Cylindrical-bore steam trap: initial steam leakage of 0.03 percent maintained for 10 years.

Quantify Energy Savings Before Installation

Condensate Collection Test

By testing your existing steam traps, we can estimate potential reductions in steam losses and energy costs before you install Steam Saver.

Considering a Switch to Steam Saver?
Do Any of These Concerns Sound Familiar?

I’m not sure how much we could save on our own equipment.
I can’t decide whether to replace our existing traps.
I want to know whether the savings will justify the installation cost.
I don’t have the supporting evidence needed for internal approval.

What This Test Can Tell You

Estimate potential savings based on your equipment.

Decide whether replacement makes sense before you commit.

Estimate the return on your investment.

Use the results for internal approval and ESG/CSR reporting.

Estimate Potential Savings for Your Equipment

We collect condensate discharged from an existing steam trap and use the measured quantity and temperature to calculate steam leakage. Based on the results, we estimate potential energy savings.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Steam Saver is a steam trap for steam mains and steam tracing lines. It accommodates a wide range of conditions on low-pressure steam distribution mains. For equipment that uses steam, such as heat exchangers, boilers, and drying ovens, we can recommend a different type of trap to suit the application and operating conditions. Please contact us.

Steam Saver cannot be used on heat exchangers. For heat exchangers, use an O-Trap model selected to suit steam consumption. We offer a range of O-Trap models, so please contact us for advice.

Yes. Steam Saver can replace existing steam traps where installation and operating conditions are suitable. We review the piping conditions, steam flow rate, and installation environment before recommending an appropriate configuration.

Steam Saver uses a cylindrical-bore design with no moving parts in the condensate discharge mechanism. Its simple fixed-orifice structure prevents steam leakage caused by deterioration of the valve element. This allows it to maintain its original performance over the long term and deliver consistent energy savings.

Routine disassembly and cleaning of the Steam Saver trap body are not required. If foreign matter causes a blockage, it can be cleared through blow-through cleaning or backflushing. However, the upstream Y-strainer requires periodic inspection and cleaning.

The main expected benefits are:

  • Energy savings through reduced steam losses
  • Lower fuel consumption
  • Less work for maintenance, inspection, and replacement
  • Support for decarbonization through lower CO₂ emissions

* Results vary depending on installation and operating conditions.

Pricing depends on the product configuration, quantity, and installation conditions, so we do not publish a fixed price. Steam Saver’s initial purchase price is comparable to that of conventional steam traps. Its durability and long-term performance help reduce life-cycle costs*, including replacement and maintenance. After discussing your application and operating conditions, we recommend a suitable configuration and provide a quotation.
* Life-cycle cost: the total cost from installation to disposal.

Yes. With Steam Saver as our core product, Kyowa Kiko recommends steam traps to suit your application and steam conditions. If you are unsure which trap is right for you, please contact us for advice.

Yes. We welcome small projects, including installations on part of a line and replacements on existing equipment.

Yes. We also offer installation services, subject to site conditions and project requirements. We will review the installation environment and confirm the scope of work before providing a quotation.
